Thrifting Finds + a Mannequin head
I went to Saver's for the first time to buy a foam mannequin head and I realized that Saver's is a beautiful place.
"Wait.. a foam mannequin head?" - you ask
"Um, yes. They are only the latest fashion!" - I reply to you telepathically
But really, let's be honest, it's for another semi-weird art project. You should know by now.
But anyway, about my love for Saver's. Let's backtrack so you'll even further realize why I heart Saver's. When I thought of getting a mannequin head, who did I naturally call?
J.C Penny's - talked to nice lady who said they'd call me if they had one, but doubted they would
Macy's - "Oh, we actually do sell those! but not right now..."
Joann's - talked to lady with a slightly annoyed air to her voice. I wasn't a fan of that phone call.
And finally.. Saver's
"Hey, I was wondering if you have any foam mannequin heads?"
"Yes, we do!"
"Oh my gosh really? Oh yay I'm so happy! Ive called like 20 places already [obvious exaggeration] and no one had them! Do you know how much they are?"
"I'll go check for you......... $2.99 a head."
Doesn't that sound awful, by the way? Like I'm buying from the black market? But I was ecstatic.
Savers had much more than mannequin heads I found out....... they had clothes. Lots and lots of clothes. Perhaps I should show you what I totally scored.
(Saver's) Blouse - $1.99
(Saver's) Forever 21 Skinnies - $5.99
separate items: Purse purchased from Forever 21. Boots purchased from Cathy Jean.
So, basically, I fell in love with Saver's. "I'll be back" I whispered inwardly to every piece of clothing item that I left. Ok, I didn't do that. But I should have.
After an hour of thrifting adventures, I finally went to check out.
"I feel weird buying this.." I told the spunky lady at the cash register, noting my mannequin head.
"It's okay. Some lady called earlier asking if we had any of them. I told her we had a bunch. She was really excited." She shrugged and kind of rolled her eyes as if to say at least you're not that freak.
I laughed. "That's really funny," I said, not having the heart to tell her that I am that freak. And I left Saver's with my awesome clothes, weird mannequin, and semi-embarrassing secret.
